The Nest Egg Program
What is the nest egg project…
The NEST-EGG (Navigating Economic Sustainability & Thriving – Establishing Generational Growth) Savings Program is an exclusive financial literacy initiative designed to help Monica Roberts Place tenants build wealth, develop savings, and prepare for homeownership.
How It Works
Portion of Rent Saved: A percentage of tenants’ rent is set aside in a dedicated savings account each month.
Homeownership Workshops: Residents attend budgeting, credit-building, and real estate education workshops to prepare for future homeownership.
Financial Planning Support: One-on-one mentorship and financial coaching to help tenants develop savings goals.
Transition to Homeownership: After completing the program, tenants can use their NEST-EGG savings for home down payments, moving expenses, or long-term financial stability.
Why It Matters
Many trans individuals face systemic barriers to financial security and homeownership. The NEST-EGG Program empowers tenants to:
Break cycles of generational poverty by securing financial independence.
Gain access to first-time homebuyer resources and mortgage assistance programs.
Build credit, increase savings, and develop long-term financial literacy.
Through the NEST-EGG Savings Program, Monica Roberts Place is not just providing housing—it’s building futures.

Community & Funding Support
Breaking Free from the Nonprofit Industrial Complex
Monica Roberts Place is a community-driven initiative that prioritizes long-term stability, financial independence, and homeownership for trans people. Too often, housing programs force trans people into cycles of temporary solutions and grant-based funding without addressing systemic economic barriers.
We are shifting this model by investing in homeownership, financial literacy, and generational wealth-building for marginalized trans communities.
We encourage:
• Community Partnerships: We work with local organizations and service providers to create a continuum of care beyond just referrals.
• Donor & Sponsorship Support: Sustaining this program depends on the generosity of our community to provide critical resources.
• Advocacy for Systemic Change: We push for policies that advance trans homeownership, affordable housing, and economic empowerment.
